National or Type I Incident Management Teams manage
the response efforts for large-scale natural or human-caused disasters. Type I
teams are trained and experienced to manage the most complex incidents, whether
they be wildland fires, hurricanes, floods, terrorist strikes or virtually any
type of disaster. The strength of these teams is in their interagency make-up,
bringing together a combination of skills and experiences from a variety of
perspectives. There are seventeen Type 1 Incident Management Teams located
throughout the United States.
The mission for this Southwest Type I Team is to
safely, effectively, and efficiently manage all incidents assigned. We strive
to do this by bringing order to chaos, applying high skill and knowledge levels
to problem solving, enhancing relationships among local agencies and citizens,
while holding down costs to reasonable levels.
