| LIVINGSTON, MT (August 28, 2003) On behalf of the Southwest Area Incident Management Team, Incident Commander, Dan Oltrogge, would like to express his sincere appreciation to the many cooperators and community members who provided support throughout the Rough Draw suppression effort. Oltrogge stated, "your support, cooperation, and participation was invaluable to us and added to the success of our assignment. Thank you". |
| LIVINGSTON, MT (August 27, 2003) Brundage - Located within the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness, bounded by Hellroaring Cabin to the south, Iron Mountain to the east, Crow Mountain to the north, and Ash Mountain to the west. The Brundage showed some activity in the northwest portion of the fire yesterday, but other parts of the fire showed little activity. The fire was monitored by aircraft yesterday and that will continue again today, along with more accurate mapping of the fire's perimeter. Fire growth is expected to continue to the north and west. |
| LIVINGSTON, MT (August 26, 2003) Rough Draw Fire - Located on the northern boundary of the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness, at the head of Mission Creek Drainage, in the Gallatin National Forest. The Rough Draw Fire showed minimal growth yesterday. Personnel monitored the fire perimeter and mopped up hot spots. Bucket work was conducted on hotspots in Mission Creek and on the east side of Shell Mountain. Structure protection measures are still in place at the 63 Ranch. Today, crews will continue the mop up and rehabilitation efforts. |
| LIVINGSTON, MT (August 25, 2003) Firefighters from the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) joined the Southwest Area Incident Management Team today, to learn more about the Incident Command System used to manage large-scale fires, emergency incidents, and natural disasters. This is the second team of New York City firefighters to visit the Rough Draw Complex, which is based out of Livingston, Montana. |

They will spend several days with the Southwest Area Incident Management Team to learn more about the Incident Command System (ICS) that is used to manage long term incidents, such as the Rough Draw Complex. They will spend several days with the Southwest Area Incident Management Team to learn more about managing long term incidents, such as the Rough Draw Complex. Please welcome them. |
| LIVINGSTON, MT (August 23, 2003) Fire Department of New York (FDNY) representatives left for home this morning. They spent the last week at the Rough Draw Complex to learn more about the Incident Command System and managing long-term incidents. Another group of representatives from FDNY is expected to arrive tomorrow. |
| LIVINGSTON, MT (August 22, 2003) Brundage - Located within the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness, bounded by Hellroaring Cabin to the south, Iron Mountain to the east, Crow Mountain to the north, and Ash Mountain to the west. Minimal fire activity was observed yesterday. The structure protection plan was finalized for Hellroaring Cabin and trigger points were identified for implementation of that plan. |
| LIVINGSTON, MT (August 21, 2003) A Community Meeting will be held tonight at the Beaver Creek Community Hall on Swingley Road, from 6:00 - 7:00pm. Representatives from the Southwest Area Incident Management Team, Gallatin National Forest, and other cooperating agencies will be present to provide an overview of the fire situation, answer questions, and address concerns. The public is invited to attend. |
| LIVINGSTON, MT (August 20, 2003) A Community Meeting will be held tonight, August 20th, from 6:00 - 7:00pm, at the Shields Valley Community Hall in Clyde Park. Tomorrow, another meeting will be held at the Beaver Creek Community Hall on Swingly Road, also from 6:00 - 7:00pm. |

| LIVINGSTON, MT (August 18, 2003) The Rough Draw Complex currently consists of five fires: the Rough Draw Fire (1120 acres), the Slippery Rock Fire (833 acres), Speculator #1 (15 acres), Speculator #2 (.1 acre), and the Hawley Fire (.1 acre). At the request of Gallatin National Forest, the team will assume responsibility for the management of two additional fires - the Brundage and the Elbow Fires. |
| LIVINGSTON, MT (August 16, 2003) The Rough Draw Complex consists of five fires: the Rough Draw Fire (940 acres), the Slippery Rock Fire (833 acres), Speculator #1 (15 acres), Speculator #2 (.1 acre), and the Hawley Fire (.1 acre). A fire weather watch for high winds has been issued today and a cold front will push through the area. |
| LIVINGSTON, MT (August 15, 2003) The Rough Draw Complex consists of these fires: the Rough Draw Fire (500 acres), the Slippery Rock Fire (620 acres), Speculator #1 (4 acres), Speculator #2 (1/10th acre), and the Hawley Fire (1/10th acre). Due to more accurate mapping, these acres have increased. |
| LIVINGSTON, MT (August 14, 2003) The Rough Draw Complex consists of these fires - the Rough Draw Fire (500 acres), the Slippery Rock Fire (620 acres), Speculator #1 (4 acres), Speculator #2 ( 1/10 acre), and the Hawley Fire (1/10th acre). Resources assigned to the complex include two Type 1 crews, four Type 2 crews, five helicopters, 11 engines, and 5 watertenders, a total of 333 personnel. |

The Rough Draw Complex now consists of five different fires - the Rough Draw Fire, the Slippery Rock Fire (previously referred to as the "Cottonwood Fire"), Speculator #1, Speculator #2, and the Hawley Fire. |
