Growth Potential for the Picture Fire

Growth potential for the fire is high, and possibly extreme, due to ponderosa pine and juniper killed by bark beetles.

The fire was very active on the southeast corner of the fire due to pockets of heavy fuels. The head of the fire slowed substantially due to sparse fuels and the line on the west side held.

Windy conditions, along with high temperatures and low humidity continue to make firefighting difficult and hazardous.
